Google first introduced its Panda update in February of 2011, claiming that Panda would improve the quality of their users search results. The idea behind this Panda update was that search results would be improved to include more authoritative and relevant websites. Ultimately, creating a higher quality for Google users as they pull up results using Google's search engine.

Since the initial launch, Google has remained busy with the implementation of several more updates in an attempt to further improve the quality of search results. It has been 11 days since Matt Cutts, Google Principal Engineer, made the announcement on Twitter that the roll out of Google's Panda Algorithm version 4.0 was official in the United States.

Panda is Google's weapon aimed at destroying (removing) all of the garbage content, or the low quality stuff that shows up in the Google search engine's search results. I have been monitoring many websites and doing a little bit of research these past 11 days since May 20th, and have come to the conclusion that Panda 4.0 has had a negative effect on a lot of websites whose' webmasters were practicing black magic. Did I say black magic? I meant "unethical SEO" tactics. After all, I am just making sure that you are reading and not falling asleep on me.

So now that we have established that Panda Algorithm version 4.0 has punished a lot of webmasters who failed to follow White Hat SEO practices, let's look at how it is affecting our small businesses.

Google Panda Algorithm 4.0 and Its Effect on Small Businesses

Unfortunately, we have limited details on the update (Google Panda 4.0) as of now, but at the Search Marketing Expo on March 2014, our faithful Google friend, Matt Cutts, made an announcement pertaining to the "next generation" Panda update. Cutts explained that his team is working on a softer version of Panda which will actually be beneficial to small businesses. This soft Panda update will affect small businesses directly by helping them become more visible in Google's search results.

Wait a minute! Does this soft update to Panda sound familiar to anyone? Well, it should. Google did this before when they released their Panda update last year in July. So how did businesses fair after Google softened their Panda algorithm last July?

Unfortunately, the answer is not one that I feel happy sharing with you, and that's because it is my duty to report that according to a poll by Barry Schwarz, only 18% of the businesses affected by the previous, "softer", Panda update, were able to make a complete and full recovery.

All we can do now is wait and see how the new update affects small businesses. However, we can expect that small businesses will have more visibility in local results.

So what did we learn from this?

Ultimately, Google's Panda algorithm filtered through all of the poor quality websites with thin or no content. Panda's design was intended to punish content farms whose main purpose was to "fool Google" and manipulate a website's Google rankings. As a result of the Panda update, a lot of small businesses paid the price when they got caught "cheating", forcing them to lose their visibility in Google's search engine overnight. This was another win for the big dog brands and stirred up quite a storm in the SEO and small business communities.

For the last decade world has become global village where by one can get information of what is happening in the whole world, shop, advertise his Company or business while at his or her bed room. This transition has changed many individuals and businesses owner for they can use this technology to advertise their companies, book for bus or plane tickets online, purchase products, get information and connect with their friends and families abroad. Among all those advantages brought up by the Internet I am going to talk about advertising being one of booming activities on the Internet. It has become easy and cheaper for companies owners to advertise their product and services than ever before because with Internet one can post his or her advert free and again it does not restrict the type of product or service to be advertised. Being easy and cheap way of advertising it has methods of doing it.

There are many methods of advertising online e.g. advertising via email, social networks, websites and blogs. In my article am going to talk on how to advertise through social networks specifically using Facebook as a method of advertising. Facebook has now become the largest social network and among most visited website in the world creating interest to companies and small business owner to use it for advertisement. Being a tool for advertising it has several methods of positing these adverts e.g. positing them in your wall, using fan page and chatting direct with your clients.

Positing an advert to your Facebook wall is one of the common methods used by companies and businesses owners to advertise their goods and services. Here you post an advert in your wall and it's viewed by all your friends in Facebook unless you specify who should see your comment. This method doesn't focus on any specific group as a fan page does, thus any body can view, like or comment on the advert.

Using a Facebook fan page is among the best methods for advertising because you focus only on people who are interested on specific goods and services hence enabling you to advertise to only who are interested to your service. This may give your clients a chance to give out their views about the products and recommendations hence enabling you to know your weaknesses and strengths. Through this interaction between clients and the company owner it creates trust in both parties which creates future relationship.

The other method is chatting direct to your client where by you communicate direct to them using chatting window. Here you may decide to use a webcam, where both of you will see each other on screen as you are chatting. This method creates confidence in both parties that everyone will feel free to participate in the business. Although it may be a time consuming method, it is more influential because the company owner has a chance to convince the client about his or her goods and services.

All these methods are easy to use, but for one to succeed, they have to go the extra mile like using exciting stories or jokes with attached message in it. These methods may work hand in hand with each other so I recommend those who want to succeed in advertising in Facebook to use these three methods and they will find their businesses growing. Somebody somewhere quoted that "success is achieved by trying all what appears hard to other" so just try this and you will see the shinning results.
